California New York Express

When my corporate cross-country relocation went wrong, CA NY Express was there for me every step of the way! I really recommend them!

Everything started out perfect with my initial move out of my NY 1-BDR Apt. They did a perfect job wrapping and handling all of my items! But, after only 1 month in CA, when my job fell through (!), I had to call CA NY Express to ask them to hold my move until I knew what I would do next.. They understood and agreed to store my items indefinitely. Every time I called to give them an update or ask any questions, they were there to help me. Now, almost 1 1/2 yrs later (!), I am moving from their temporary storage to MN. Since the actual cross-country move didn't happen, CA NY Express adjusted my final moving bill pretty fairly. They worked closely with my new moving company (CA NY Express doesn't move to MN) and not only ensured that all my items got transferred safely to the moving truck, but made sure the correct cubic feet volume was recorded.

Even though I had such a bad moving experience, I was glad CA NY Express were my moving company, and I am thankful to them for having been there from beginning to end, and most of all, for making me feel like I was family!

CA-NY Express moved us from Silicon Valley to Brooklyn last year.

They packed my husband's 40-year professional library and papers into a truck with a hole in its roof. A rain storm completely soaked almost 30 professionally-packed boxes of irreplaceable papers, signed manuscripts, family photographs. All of my own graphic design printed samples from 30 years were destroyed. It's not quite a year and I am still sickened by the loss. My renters insurance from USAA was only able to compensate for basically the weight of the boxes. (How much does your signed doctoral dissertation from 1982 weigh? Or how much does your mom and dad's wedding album from 1946 weigh?)

I just got notice that this company will not even pay the few hundred dollars deductible after the insurance company paid what they could. Really?

Shame on these people. They were so personable and available before this happened..then they went stone silent and left me on my own. Their only response was "file a claim".. which I interpreted (generously?) as "drop dead".

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $7500

This company is most definitely NOT recommended.  There were multiple communication problems from the start. After the booking was set up, they did not return phone calls timely.   The CA crew did a good job as they worked well together and had 4 workers - this is why my overall rating is 2 stars rather than 1 star. The tracking system the company uses in its advertising did not work at the beginning, and so I called to find out where my shipment was at various times, but calls were not returned only emails -but they were delayed. The shipment in MA was one day late and there were only two workers.  The guy in charge was very unfriendly and extremely unfit to move packages.  The other guy did most of the work and it was sad to see this. My biggest complaint is what they make you go through to get compensated for damages from items that arrived broken.  Even though I documented the damages on the "day of delivery" receipt and I emailed pictures of the damaged items the next day, they require this:     The claim MUST be NOTARIZED and sent to us via CERTIFIED MAIL - No other form of delivery will be accepted.      -what a rooked system to require customers to do all that when it was documented and recorded by their own workers on day of delivery.  This sort of rule was created surely to discourage anyone from filing any claims.  Unbelieveable!   .

Avoid California New York Express at all costs. I am going out of my way to let people know how bad this company treated me so others don't get ripped off like I was. My experience with California New York express: 1. They give you as little notice as possible. The contract says 24-48 hours before arrival, within a vague span of 15 days. They will call you at the last possible minute, barely 24 hours away from their arrival. If you aren't ready, prepare for enormous extra charges.  2. $1,000   extra charge if you can't take delivery in the slim 3-hour window they give you at the last minute. Boulder was flooded when they arrived the first time, my assistant couldn't take delivery for me, in the extremely narrow timespan I was not available. 3. Breaching their own contract: They will demand payment before they re-deliver, despite going against the contract you'll sign which says you pay half up front and half upon delivery. They will refuse to move your goods until you cough up the extra $1,000, and meanwhile they will charge you for storage while they withhold your stuff.4. Your boxes will be extremely battered and damaged upon delivery. 5. Hidden and Extra Charges. They will arrive in a gigantic 18-wheeler and, if your residential street cannot accommodate that, they will charge you a "shuttle charge" of several hundred dollars to deliver your stuff. This is not mentioned anywhere in the contract or the website e-signature you'll sign. They warn you about long delivery charges, stair charges, and multiple addresses. The "shuttle charge" is never mentioned. But they will stick you for it. Average shuttle charge for ~450 cubic feet of stuff is $350. 6. Boxes, Blankets, and Tape. They use an obscene amount of packing materials to coat your stuff and they will charge you for every roll. 7. Final Bill will be written up by foreign movers who barely speak English. When they present you with overcharges of about $200, they will call their home office, mutter something vague, and they will make you "sort it out with the company" later if you want some kind of refund.I can't say enough negative things about this company.

I moved from NY to SF a month ago and used California New York Express Moving, based on friends' recommendations. They were fantastic. 
 
The quote was substantially lower than other companies (I priced them out against 5 other groups), and the service was excellent. For a small NY studio, the move cost me $1200. Incredibly efficient, pleasant experience. CA-NY Express will hold your things at origin for free for a month. Upon shipping, you can track the entire move online and they offer cash back for days late.
 
Moving is a total hassle no matter what, but CA-NY Express certainly made it a lot easier.

Using CA-NY movers was a great decision for us. It was our first cross country move, and we shopped around a lot. CA-NY offered the best quality-to-price ratio, and were very professional throughout. The movers for the loading process were quick and kind, and got everything done on time, helping us package some of the trickier items.

The movers in NYC were also professional and hardworking, staying hours to make sure that everything was unloaded properly, assembled, and in working condition. We will absolutely use them again if we move across the country in the future!

I have had 2 wonderful moves with California New York Express. Two years ago I used them to move my things from NYC to LA and last month I had them move my things from LA back to NYC. And if I were to move back to LA or SF I would use them once again! Their customer service representatives are accessible and easy to work with and respond to all questions very quickly. The foremen and movers on both the NYC and LA sides were extremely professional, efficient, and made me feel comfortable leaving all my possessions with them. The movers took care to wrap and pack my things. Not to mention they are very affordable. I also used their free 30 day storage plan and it was seamless and very easy. I highly recommend them.

CA/NY Express had excellent communication from the very beginning and an easy-enough to understand online system. Their pricing was much more competitive than the other companies that I interviewed. Everything was documented extremely well and professionally and there were no hidden charges whatsoever––everything was stated clearly and upfront. The movers themselves were very professional and swift, which makes the process much, much more pleasant. The delivery was scheduled almost exactly when I requested it, and the 30 days free storage is very helpful and convenient for a cross country move. Thank you CA/NY Express. I recommend them to the highest degree.

My daughter moved from New York to Los Angeles this August 2016. I did not know who to contract with since she did not have a large amount of stuff, but her things are quite nice. In addition, she lived on a fifth floor walk up in Manhattan. Thus, moving is a major hassle. To find a company that moves smaller loads and does not charge an exorbitant amount was difficult to find. So I took a leap of faith and contracted with CA-NY Express. Well, what a great experience this turned out to be. From the customer service with Elizabeth, answering all of my questions, multiple back and forth phone conversations..to the team that loaded the truck in NY and wrapped some of the more delicate pieces ( few large art pieces, a beautiful sofa etc ) to the crew in Los Angeles , thank you Rigo and George Ch, who were quick, efficient and on time. I think Mowgali, Dror, and Harry in New York were absolutely amazing. They were professional, efficient, very careful with her treasured belongings and very nice guys! I can't praise them enough..and by the way, they moved all of this in a brutal heat wave. Wow, what a job! We will use CA-NY Express for our next move.
